COVID-19 Infections Rise Among Doctors in Rajshahi
60% test positivity rate reported in a single day, health officials urge caution
In Rajshahi, nine out of 15 people tested for COVID-19 on Monday were found positive. Most of them are doctors who had been suffering from fever for the past few days. The tests were conducted at the PCR lab of the Department of Microbiology at Rajshahi Medical College (RMC). The test positivity rate stood at a concerning 60%.
Professor Dr. Khondaker Md. Faisal Alam, Principal of RMC, confirmed the information. He stated that COVID-19 cases are being reported regularly over the past few days. “about 15 samples tested today, 9 came back positive. Most of the coming patients showed mild symptoms like fever, cold, and cough. They didn’t realize it was COVID-19 because the symptoms were so light. However, weakness was common among them, and recovery is taking some time,” he added. Seven of the infected individuals are believed to be medical professionals.
Dr. Alam emphasized the importance of taking the situation seriously, even if hospitalization isn’t always required. He warned that this virus could be dangerous and harmful, especially for elderly people, children and diabetic people. “We should not ignore this. Special attention must be given to high-risk individuals,” he said.
Currently, there is no official count of active COVID-19 cases in the region. However, the RMC Principal advised that anyone over 60 years old showing symptoms should get tested. Samples must be submitted to the Microbiology Department while wearing a mask. The test fee is BDT 100, and results are delivered by midday.
Dr. Shankar K. Bishwas, spokesperson of RMC Hospital and head of the emergency unit, confirmed that COVID-19 testing continues at their lab. Only one patient is currently admitted with COVID-19. He noted that some infected people may not feel seriously ill and therefore choose not to be hospitalized. “The one patient under treatment is receiving proper medical care,” he said.
Health officials are urging the public to remain alert and follow health precautions, particularly in light of the high test positivity rate.

What to Drink During a Heatwave, According to a Nutritionist
Which Drink Is Best During a Heatwave? A Nutritionist Breaks It Down
In the sweltering heat, what you drink can make a big difference.
The temperature is increasing day by day and everyday it feels like over 43°c, people are sweating more than usual—and that’s not just uncomfortable, it can be dangerous. Dehydration, fatigue, headaches—these are just a few of the heatwave side effects hitting people hard across the country.
But when it comes to staying safe, the question many are asking is simple: What should I drink?
Chamili Jannat, a field nutritionist working in the Rohingya camps in Cox’s Bazar, weighed in on the matter. She’s seen firsthand how heat can knock people off their feet, and her advice starts with one word: water.
“Clean drinking water is your best friend,” she said. “You don’t need anything fancy. Just make sure it’s safe, and drink plenty—at least two to three liters a day, or more if you’re outside a lot.”
As for saline, Jannat warns people not to jump to it unless they’re really unwell. “If someone’s dealing with vomiting, diarrhea, or severe weakness, saline might help. But taking it without a reason? That can mess up your body’s balance.”
Fruit juices, especially from seasonal fruits like watermelon or bael, are another option—but skip the sugar and salt. “Natural juice is great,” she noted. “Just keep it simple. And diabetics need to be extra careful.”
Now, what about glucose? You might think it’s a go-to in the heat—but think again. “Unless your blood sugar is low or you’re feeling faint, avoid it,” Jannat said. “Glucose can spike sugar levels and even turn into fat. That’s not what your body needs every day.”
She also warned against soft drinks. “They’re tempting when it’s hot, but they do more harm than good,” she added.
Her final tips? Keep cool when you can, wear light clothes, and use an umbrella or hat if you need to be outside, a water bottle must and keep some indoor plant in your room or office that makes your room cooler.

Built to Last: The Heart of a Strong Relationship
A strong relationship is built by loyality, patience, respect, no comparison, true love, friendship and wish to build a family.
Everyone needs a flawless relationship with partner. So all should maintain some tricks and tools.
First, loyalty means everything. It’s not just about staying faithful—it’s about being dependable. When someone knows they can count on you, the trust grows naturally. Without that trust, the foundation cracks.
Stop comparing your relationship and your partner to others. What works for someone else may never suit you. Everyone’s path is different. When you compare, you invite frustration and insecurity into something that could’ve been peaceful and full of joy.
Don’t humiliate your partner about his/her mistakes and let not their head down. For this your partner feel low about him/herself.
Life is full of small, beautiful moments. Don’t overlook them. Laugh at silly things together, make dinner feel like a celebration, or just be present without distractions. These are the memories that matter, not the grand events.
Listen—actually listen. Don’t just hear words. Pay attention. Look up from your phone. Notice the tone, the pause, the things left unsaid. It’s in those quiet details where connection deepens. When people feel heard, they feel loved.
Compromise is part of any real bond. You won’t agree on everything—and you shouldn’t have to. The goal isn’t to win every argument, but to understand where the other person is coming from. Giving a little shows that the relationship means more than being right.
Here’s what helps keep things strong:
- Don’t stop communication, it may help to feel comfort with each other.
- Celebrate small things or date with your partner.
- Never hide things; openness brings safety.
- Prioritize time together, even when life feels hectic.
- Value the little things—they’re often the big things in disguise.
Relationships don’t follow a script. There’s no perfect formula. But when two people choose each other daily, despite the hard days, that’s where something real and lasting begins.
