Tamim’s Bat Venture: A Tribute to Fans and Young Cricketers
Tamim Iqbal Visits Pakistani Bat Factory for a Personal Project
Former skipper reveals the real reason behind his recent Pakistan trip
Bangladesh’s national cricket team has recently returned from their tour of Pakistan, arriving in two separate groups. During the series, one notable absence from the squad caught the attention of fans—former captain Tamim Iqbal was also in Pakistan, but for an entirely different reason.
Tamim later spoke to the media to clarify his visit. He explained that he had gone to the factory of CA Sports, a well-known Pakistani cricket bat manufacturer. This visit wasn’t related to any playing duties but was connected to a personal business project.
A few weeks ago, Tamim opened a showroom in Bangladesh that features cricket bats. The bats are produced by CA Sports and are part of a special edition designed to honor Tamim’s cricketing career. Speaking to reporters, he said, “I won’t be able to buy a plane or a house from this business. It’s not for profit; it’s something I’ve done purely out of passion. After retirement, CA is making a bat in my name. It’s meant for my fans—those who loved my batting. This bat is a memory for them.”
He also touched on the rising costs of cricket bats in Bangladesh. “Right now, the prices in our market are too high,” Tamim noted. “If we can bring the price of a good bat down to 15,000 or 20,000 taka, that would be helpful. Especially for academy players and those starting out in new leagues, it will make a big difference.”
The initiatives of Tamim ties his affection for cricket with a desire to give back to young players and his supporters. While he may be retired from international cricket, his influence on the sport in Bangladesh continues in new and meaningful ways.

Neymar Sidelined with COVID-19
Neymar Tests Positive for COVID-19, Temporarily Sidelined Again
Brazilian star in isolation, set to miss no additional matches due to existing suspension
Neymar’s struggles continue even after returning to his boyhood club, Santos. The 33-year-old forward has once again been forced off the pitch, but this time not due to injury. He has tested positive for COVID-19, according to an official announcement by Santos.
The Brazilian star began showing symptoms last Thursday (June 5). Following medical tests, the club confirmed he had contracted the virus. As a result, Neymar is currently in home isolation and receiving treatment under medical supervision.
In a statement, Santos said, “Neymar Jr. was tested after showing viral symptoms. Our medical department has confirmed his COVID-19 infection. He was immediately withdrawn from all club activities and is now resting at home.”
Despite the latest health concern, Neymar won’t miss any matches because of the timing. He received a red card in his previous game and is already suspended for the next match against Fortaleza on Friday (June 13). So, his COVID-related absence will align with his existing suspension.
Santos expects Neymar to return after the Club World Cup, possibly in their upcoming fixture against Palmeiras. The club is hopeful and greatful that he will fully recover in time for that match.
These setbacks have delayed his return to the national team. If his recovery goes smoothly, he may have another chance to revive his career on the international stage.
For now, Santos and Brazilian fans await his full recovery, hoping he can finally find stability both in health and performance.

Kohli’s Long-Awaited IPL Triumph
Kohli’s Dream Finally Comes True as Bengaluru Wins First IPL Title
Bengaluru edges past Punjab in a tense final to seal a historic win
After 18 attempts and three heartbreaks in earlier finals, Virat Kohli finally got his hands on the elusive IPL trophy. It wasn’t an easy road, but on a dramatic night in Ahmedabad, Bengaluru held their nerve to defeat Punjab by 6 runs in the final. When Josh Hazlewood delivered the last ball, emotion poured out of Kohli. His eyes welled up—this victory meant everything.
Batting first, Bengaluru put up 190 for 9. Not the highest total of the season, but enough to make Punjab stumble under pressure. Kohli scored 43—Bengaluru’s top score—but did so at a cautious pace. Punjab’s bowlers used slower deliveries and short balls to keep him in check.
The real push came from others. Rajat Patidar, Liam Livingstone, Mayank Agarwal, and Jitesh Sharma all chipped in with quick runs. Jitesh’s explosive 24 off just 10 balls created hopes for a total beyond 200, but Punjab’s Arshdeep Singh nailed the final over, giving away only 3 runs and finishing with 3 wickets.
In reply, Punjab never looked settled. Their top order couldn’t break loose. Prabhsimran Singh made 26 off 22, Priyansh Arya 24 off 19, but both looked unsure.
Krunal Pandya’s tight spell (2 for 17 in 4 overs) played a massive role in choking Punjab’s middle overs. By the time the final few overs arrived, the match had already tilted Bengaluru’s way.
For Kohli, it was more than just a title. It was the end of a long journey — one filled with criticism, near-misses, and undying passion. Finally, his IPL story has the ending he dreamed of.

Aminul Bulbul Takes Charge of Bangladesh Cricket Board
Aminul Islam Bulbul Named New Bangladesh Cricket Board President
Faruk Ahmed removed after allegations; Aminul steps in temporarily
Aminul Islam Bulbul has been selected as the new president of BCB. Again he was the former captain of the Bangladesh national cricket team. The decision came after an emergency board meeting held on Friday, May 30, at the BCB headquarters in Mirpur.
The National Sports Council (NSC) had earlier nominated Bulbul as a BCB director. On the same day, it also cancelled the nomination of Faruk Ahmed. Rumors had been circling that the government no longer supported Faruk’s leadership. Those reports gained ground when Faruk himself hinted that the sports advisor, Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan, wanted a new face at the top.
Faruk claimed he wasn’t stepping down. But later that evening, eight of the ten BCB directors signed a no-confidence letter. They accused Faruk of corruption, misuse of power, and irregular activities. By Thursday night, the NSC officially removed him by revoking his director nomination.
Currently, Aminul holds an ICC role as Development Manager for the Asia region. He also works in ICC’s High Performance and Training Education sectors. His contract with the ICC ends next month, and he has said he doesn’t plan to continue in that position.
Though Aminul has agreed to lead the BCB for now, he made it clear he won’t run in the October elections. His goal is to help guide the board toward a fair and peaceful transition.
Faruk, however, has not accepted the decision. He has filed a complaint with the ICC, claiming he was forced out without due process.
As cricket fans wait to see what’s next, all eyes are now on how Aminul handles the challenges ahead.
